So, seeing the fireworks from Roosevelt Island could really count as my "new thing" of the week. But, I decided I felt like doing something else new. So, on Thursday night, I checked out the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. I was over in that neighborhood buying a baby gift for a shower anyway and I had seen the Shake Shack before and thought it looked interesting, so I decided it made sense to go grab dinner there. Madison Square Park is a really cute little park and the Shake Shack is a cute little building in the middle of the park. When I got there, the line for the Shack was huge! I thought about leaving, but then remembered that this is part of why I'm here and if I want to see and do the things you're supposed to see and do then I'm probably going to have to wait in some lines. Plus, a long line means it must be good. So, I waited. It was worth it! I got a burger, fries, and a chocolate shake. The burger was fantastic!! The fries were not really anything special, but good. The shake was good, but much more chocolate-y than I was expecting! I read/worked on my bible study while I ate. It was a fun little excursion.
Today, I got to go in the most amazing apartment ever!! I went to a co-worker, Sara's, baby shower and it was held at an apartment of a place where another girl I know, Erin, is the nanny. Erin was hosting the shower. The apartment was on the Upper West Side just steps from Tavern on the Green in Central Park. It was in an elevator building on the 9th floor. The apartment itself was 3 stories and so, so nice! It had about 5 bedrooms, I think. Plus a library, at least 2 large living areas, an enormous kitchen, a dining room, two terraces with amazing gardens, and I don't know how many bathrooms-- at least 4 and the master bath was amazing with a sauna. It was quite fun! The shower was nice too-- delicious food the girls made!
Last night was my turn to lead the Movie Play Group for church. We saw Devil Wears Prada and then went and ate at a delicious Thai restaurant right down the street from my apartment. I really liked the movie and met some girls I really enjoyed.
Today I am procrastinating-- I've got to get the rest of my boxes from home unpacked!!!

I am glad you are trying new things each week. That is a great thing to do - even for those of us who live in a less exciting city than New York. How many of us have lived somewhere for years and not taken advantage of the activities or places in that city? I am going to try to have the same outlook here. I think that would make my time much more exciting. Thanks for the idea!!
That Mindy is quick. I thought I'd post a comment here and beat her to this post because it said 0 comments and boom, when I brought up the page there she already was! She posted at 10:52 - the same time my computer showed when I started this.
In all of your ups and downs, though, I know you remember the peace you had when you decided to move so recall that in the hard times. You are in NY for a purpose and it just might not be what you expect!!! I'm excited for you still!

Duke and I went to the Shake Shack too. We both loved it cuz he could actually go (Duke's a dog for those of you that don't know). It was so much fun! I just saw Devil Wears Prada today too! I loved it. Glad you're getting settled in with "your stuff" finally.

I'm glad you finally have your own stuff there - especially your bed!! I'm sorry the movers were so frustrating on the 4th. Situations like that make you feel helpless because you can't make those people move any faster.
The shake sounds good... mmm, now I am craving one!!
Take care!
