Tonya, me, Contessa from San Fran, and
Kristen from Rockwall (outside Dallas)
Jess from Seattle, Erin from Dallas (our moms
went to high school together, but were 2 years
apart and don't know each other), Robyn from
Rockwall, Emily (? - Robyn's friend), and Sarah
from Hereford, TX/Dallas
I think that it's so funny that everyone who has ever been in our groupo is only from Texas and the East Coast. That night, we were missing only Erin from Orange County and Jen from Dallas. And the 2 people who have left our group were from Austin/Dallas and LA.
Thursday night, I got to go to the Annual New York Public Library Corporate Dinner. Every year, 450 people from different companies across the city get to go to this dinner. I got to represent the NHL, along with my friend Kristen (one of my CG gals, see above). Our CFO was supposed to go (actually, I assume the Commissioner was probably the original invitee), but the CFO couldn’t go, so he passed the tickets off to one of the VP’s and she couldn’t go, so she gave them to me! I was so glad Kristen was able to come along! We had a blast! The Library is gorgeous anyway and Kristen had never even been in, so we loved looking around. The cocktail reception was in the main lobby entrance. We got there late because I'd switched purses the night b/f which I NEVER do and left them in the other purse at home! But, we were able to enjoy a quick glass of wine before heading into the main room for dinner. We were sooooo taken aback when we entered the dinner room. The smell of flowers was overwhelming. It smelled great in there! Plus, it was gorgeous. It felt like we had just walked into the most beautiful garden ever. The walls were covered about 1/2 way up with ivy, there were trees all over the room, plus enormous bouquets of hydrangeas. It was amazing! We had a great time chatting, mostly with each other, but also with the few people sitting immediately next to us. The food was delicious - a tomato/mozzerella appetizer that was excellent, salmon/asparagus/corn dish, and a delicious chocolate/ice cream dessert. Plus, endless refills of wine - we later discussed that wasn't the safest way to drink because there was no way to keep track when they kept adding more to our glasses! It was a great event and a very fun night. I was honored that my bosses felt I could represent the NHL well! Kristen was an excellent "date", too....we had a lot of fun!
Kristen & I tried to get some photos outside
the library before heading in
Inside the lobby where the reception hour was held
Inside the ballroom
This doesn't do the flowers justice -
there were tons of them! Notice the
huge arrangement in the background
that is hanging from the cieling -
there were 4 of those in the room.
Thursday at work, we had an end-of-season ice cream celebration. I didn't get to go because I was buried in an office with our consultants, but one of my co-workers brought me a sundae. She also brought the excellent news that they had annouced that for all of July and August, we can wear jeans on Friday and leave at 2:00! Excellent! I always wanted to work at a place that did nice things like that. Granted, I still have the same amount of work and summer is our busiest time, so I may not get out at 2:00 every Friday, but some weeks I'm sure I will!
I have a couple more events in the next few days that I am very excited about, so look for more blogs....coming soon to a computer near you!

Hereford - did you know that's just 30 minutes from Canyon? How funny. I used to go down there the summer I got married for a government course I took.We were a bit nervous that's where Jason would have to end up!
