Happy Easter!

Happy Resurrection Day, everyone!

I am loving this Easter...so far, and it's not even Easter day yet!  My Bible Study has been studying the coming of the Messiah and it has been so great to be studying that in depth leading up to this holiday.  I especially enjoyed the week we studied the crucifixion.  We spent most of the week studying Isaiah 53.  It was written 700 years before Jesus entered our world, yet Isaiah prophesied Jesus' death for our transgressions.  For some reason that makes this powerful event all the more powerful in my mind.  For centuries, people were looking for their coming Messiah and then to see it come to light through Jesus on the cross - amazing!

Another neat thing we did last Friday was to have a Jewish Passover Seder meal together.  Have you ever done one of these?  It was a powerful experience for me.  Every step of the meal is clearly a sign of Jesus and His crucifixion for our sins.  I have found myself extra sad for people who still have the Seder meal every year - yet have no idea it's pointing to Jesus.  They are still waiting for their Messiah!  To us who know Him, it is so obvious!  But, for them.....

They know nothing, they understand nothing;
their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see;
and their minds closed so they cannot understand.
Isaiah 44:18

Our leader for the Seder meal prayed that night that anyone who partakes in the meal would see that it clearly points to Jesus as Messiah.  I think it's neat to pray that God would begin to take the veil off their eyes so they can see Jesus as God!

We remembered all these things I've been studying at our church's Good Friday service - which was so excellent and all the more powerful to me after these recent experiences.  Tomorrow, we'll celebrate the risen King!

On Friday, He died for our sins and on Sunday he rose for our justification.
He bore my sin, so I could bear His righteousness before God.
He became powerless, so that I could have power to live forever.
He did it obediently and quietly and all with a strong confidence in God's plan.
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
